Stewed apple with orange-soaked sultanas

  • Use dessert apples in this recipe as Bramleys tend to collapse into a puree during cooking.

  1. Squeeze the orange. Place the sultanas in a bowl, pour in half the orange juice and leave to soak for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Wash and halve the apples. Remove the core and cut each half into 1cm thick slices.
  3. Put the apple slices in a saucepan. Drizzle with the rest of the orange juice and cook over a low heat for 5-7 minutes or until the apple slices are soft but still retaining their shape.
  4. Transfer the apples to a serving bowl, sprinkle with the soaked sultanas and drizzle with the honey.
  5. Serve warm.
